The history of SELLE SMP began in 1947, during the difficult years after the war, with reconstruction and the desire to be reborn. The company was born in Padua from the courage and revolutionary ideas of Martino Schiavon, a young manufacturer of bicycle saddles. 
SMP boasts a long history of tradition and innovation; in more than 70 years the company has always managed to keep up with the innovations and changes that have involved the cycling sector without ever giving up an important cornerstone: maintaining production and employment in Italy, to be precise in Veneto. 
Innovation has always been SMP's strong point and, in recent years, it has started to impose itself more and more as a reference point on the market for the production of quality saddles that can really make a difference. In 2000 SMP saddles became the first company in the sector to obtain the certified quality system and in 2004 it launched the "PRO" line which gives birth to a new concept of bike saddle.
SMP is currently an established company in the sector able to offer various models of professional saddles for different specialties, all characterized by a careful study in order to create high-performance products capable of safeguarding the well-being and health of the cyclist. In fact, the company produces mtb anti-prostate saddles characterized by the free central channel and the eagle-beak hake designed to prevent the most sensitive areas from being negatively affected when cycling.
