Oils and lubrificants

Fork oil is essential to keep the rear shock well lubricated. Rear shocks oils are composed of synthetic or mineral mixtures with the addition of particular additives such as viscosity fluidizers, foam or emulsion inhibitors with water or air and particular particles to protect the seals. The oil has the task of ensuring the correct functioning of the suspension system and, currently, there are two functions of the oil:

• ubrication: the lubrication oil keeps the chainstays, sponges and bushings well lubricated so as to minimize friction and increase the sliding of the parts in contact, reducing wear. The lubricating oil is inserted into the sliders at the end of the tightening so that it settles well and creates a smooth and long lasting thread.
• Hydraulics: these are particular oils which allow the compression and the return to be achieved and managed (what are called 'damper' in English). The oil passes through calibrated orifices that dampen the compression or re-extension of the elastic element. This is the hydraulic system.
