Its products, in fact, were not only superior in terms of technology but also of quality: he knew how to get the best out of his material and soon he found himself modifying the bikes of his competitors, with the consequent victory of over 350 world titles with the official team in various disciplines. Despite the initial success, the company has continued to grow, presenting increasingly innovative and efficient projects in the development of electronically controlled suspension technologies, such as CES (Electronically Controlled Suspension), which has revolutionized the automotive industry by removing the largest part of the compromise between driving and handling found in conventional suspension. In standard CES applications, the driver can freely and at any time switch between different pre-programmed settings giving the suspension widely different characteristics, generally a comfort adjustment, a sporty setting and an advanced adaptation that automatically adjusts the current driving conditions and the driver's current driving style. From these basic settings, the system automatically controls the damping characteristics of each of the four shock absorbers in real time, changing the settings up to 400 or 500 times per second! In the 1980s, Öhlins' more than performing results attracted the attention of industrial giants and, in 1987, Öhlins was acquired by Yamaha.
