Medium travel fork perfect for trail riding and downcountry riding and for carefree riding on even the most demanding trails.
The fork can be adjusted easily: 15 clicks of low-speed compression and rebound damping adjustment. Three high-speed compression settings. Optimum balance between traction, weight control (1698 g) and stiffness (also fits on e-bikes).
The new fork replaces the original RXF34 and offers 130 mm travel optimised for lightweight 29er trail bikes. Weighing in at just 1698g, the fork boasts a brand new air spring and shock absorber, adapted to the demands of the emerging riding style, while retaining all the hallmarks of Öhlins' race-proven performance suspension, such as its long travel, single-crown RXF36 m.2 and RXF38 m.2 cousins.
The OTX18 shock absorber is specifically designed for downcounty use and builds on the highly successful TTX18 found in Öhlins' downhill and trail forks. It shares several key components with its big brother TTX18, but weighs 27% less and is optimised for faster, smoother trail riding, striking an optimum balance between traction, control, weight and stiffness. Like all Öhlins shocks, the OTX18 offers impressive adjustability for tuning, with fifteen clicks for low-speed compression and rebound adjustment and three for high-speed compression adjustment.
The new shock is paired with a strong, lightweight air spring with a positive chamber and a self-adjusting negative chamber. The positive chamber allows you to adjust the spring curve to suit your needs using the Öhlins volumetric spacer system. The negative chamber, on the other hand, is designed for fast trail riding and provides an initial smooth feel and superb sensitivity to small bumps. The spring surface and seals also minimise friction and breakaway force to improve the smooth feel of the fork.
The fork frame is moklto rigid and offers precise steering, and this was made possible by a closed outer tube design to increase rigidity, impact resistance and lower leg volume. The increased air volume in the lower part of the fork increases the impact of the air spring on overall performance. The RXF34 m.2 also benefits from the same race-proven floating axle design found in the RXF36 m.2 and RXF38 m.2, which reduces friction and further increases rigidity.
