Winter MTB Shoes

WINTER MTB SHOES must be chosen with great care because they are the companions for riding on mud and rocks, in the rain and in cold temperatures.
Winter mountain bike shoes, flat or spd, must keep the foot warm but must also be made of breathable materials such as, for example, gore-tex.  
The sole must be rigid, to allow the foot to rest perfectly on the pedal, give maximum force and make pedaling more efficient and less tiring.
The upper, in leather or synthetic, has few seams so as to avoid friction and pain and inside the shoe it is possible to insert orthopedic and/or breathable insoles.
The sole, finally, must be properly taxed so as to be able to walk easily on muddy and/or wet ground even when you get off the bike. 

Winter MTB shoes can be clipless or flat. Clipless shoes have cleats under the sole that fit over the quick release pedal. This way, the shoes stay perfectly anchored to the pedal by simply clipping them in with a press, and they release with a twist of the foot.

Winter flat shoes have a smooth sole and are perfect to be worn by cyclocross riders who need to get off the bike often to carry it on their shoulders.

At the end of each ride the shoes should be properly cleaned and brushed, especially those with quick release cleats or with a very treaded sole because mud, dirt and debris accumulate under the soles. 
Given the technical materials, it is advisable to brush and wash by hand, using a little neutral soap, using brushes with fine bristles to remove any incrustations from both the sole and the rest.
