MTB Shoes
Cycling shoes are the only stable connection point between the biker and his bike. If until recently the use of these shoes was reserved only for professionals, now they are starting to be worn even by those who ride bikes just for fun and passion. MTB and road shoes, compared to normal ones, ensure more efficient pedaling and less waste of energy. Mountain bike and road shoes differ from the others in two ways: Sole: it is the point of support of the foot to the pedal and is made of medium-hard plastic materials, not very flexible, which avoid the dispersion of the force impressed on the pedal. Some models have a carbon sole which represents the right compromise between rigidity and lightness. The profile of the sole is specially designed for maximum traction on all terrains. For MTB shoes the sole must be in hard rubber or nylon with anchors while for the racing bike it must be smooth and made with lighter materials such as carbon fiber or glass fiber. Quick release cleat: the quick release cleat is made of plastic, hard and durable, or steel and attaches directly to the sole to securely hook the sole to the pedal. When the cycling shoe is anchored to the pedal, the pedaling force is concentrated in one point making the pedaling more fluid and efficient. The cleat allows you to use both the "active leg" that pushes the pedal and the passive one that pulls. The models of bike shoes are different and it is not possible, for example, to wear MTB shoes when pedaling with a road bike and vice versa and, for this reason, before proceeding with the purchase it is necessary to have a clear use that you will want to make it easier to orient yourself. The shoes generally have an upper made of microfiber or leather, without seams, with Velcro or Velcro closure and buckles for a secure grip at all times. Both the upper part of the shoe and the tongue can be pre-drilled or have microfibre inserts for better air circulation. Cycling shoes are designed to optimize performance at every pedal stroke, ensuring perfect comfort and fit. To prevent your feet from getting cold, you should also wear cycling shoe covers. Usually we use shoe covers when the temperature is very cold and there is wind or rain, all elements that the bike shoe, even if winter, cannot cope with on its own. We are waiting for you. The shoe cover generally has an external coating made of neoprene, polyester or polyurethane which guarantees an excellent level of impermeability, good breathability of the foot and adequate thermal insulation. The internal lining, on the other hand, is generally made of extremely light fleece material which in addition to maintaining the heat ensures an extremely comfortable and aerodynamic fit. All models of mtb shoe covers usually have a zip on the heel with a silicone gasket, heat-sealed seams and a silicone upper edge to guarantee both better structural resistance and complete insulation from wind and water. The main models of cycling shoe covers wrap around the ankle and the back of the foot leaving the sole uncovered under which the Velcro straps pass for closure, while others completely cover the foot leaving an opening only for the quick release cleat.
