Wilderness Trail Bikes (usually abbreviated to WTB) is a company founded in 1982, specialising in the production of saddles, rims and tires for MTBs. 

Marin Country (where the company is based) is the birthplace of mountain biking, in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

In 1980, Steve Potts, a frame builder from Mill Valley, began working with Mark Slate to help meet the growing demand for MTBs. Charlie Cunningham, in Fairfax, had been building mountain bikes since 1979 with heat-treated aluminum frames that featured unique Type II forks, roller-cam brakes, custom hubs and other components that were among the first of their kind designed specifically for mountain bikes.
Increased demand and price advantages led the three to found WTB in 1982.

In 1988, Patrick Seidler also joined the company, and from that point on, the company began producing technology for resale to traditional bicycle manufacturers such as tyre designs by Specialized Bicycle Components, the Blackburn B-52 bottle cage, geometry for the 1987 Trek Bicycle Corporation mountain bike line, and the use of Greaseguard in the high-end Suntour XC Pro component group.

Over time the company has evolved to become an established retailer of wtb tires, rims, grips and saddles.
