GIRO AETHER MIPS HELMET

The Aether MIPS Road lap helmet combines style and performance in a helmet that ranks among the best helmets around the mtb world.

An open design with a revolution in rotational energy management has been implemented to improve the protection of the biker's head: the new proprietary MIPS Spherical technology is integrated between the layers of EPS foam, rather than against the rider's head, giving riders the advantages of MIPS without obstacles for comfort or cooling power.

This system combines two pieces of foam with an intermediate elastomer that allows the upper to rotate up to 15mm at impact while the bottom remains intact.

The beautiful shape features an elegant six-piece shell surrounding a series of massive air intakes, with structural reinforcement added through an unbreakable AURA reinforcement arch.

During testing, the vents were large enough to allow large objects to pass through, creating a possible safety problem for the athlete. To solve this problem, Giro created AURA (Aerodynamic Ultimate Reinforcing Arch) a translucent, unbreakable reinforcement arch designed to shield the vents.

AURA not only prevents large objects from passing through the vents, but also provides additional structural integrity without restricting air entry.

The finishing touch is the Roc Loc® 5+ Air Fit 3-way system, which allows easy 3-way precision adjustment in seconds.

MIPS Spherical: the two layers of Eps become the essential components of the sliding plane where the Mips protocol is developed. This allows the helmet shell to rotate independently around the head during an angular impact. The final result is the reduction of the rotation forces, the elimination of the plastic sliding plane of the original Mips (the classic yellow "cage" that has always distinguished Mips), a helmet capable of redirecting and reabsorbing energy, spreading it and causing the negative forces to be distributed along the entire surface of the helmet. Mips Spherical is not an additional element of the helmet but, as you can understand, it is an integral and fundamental part of the helmet.
