MTB Tires
MTB tires have the task of withstanding all the stresses coming from the ground.
A MTB tire must necessarily possess three qualities:
1) Excellent grip on the ground thanks to the anchors on the outside. This type of traction is essential for pedaling safely on muddy paths and descents.
2) Smoothness: the wheel must slide smoothly trying to disperse the least amount of energy possible. The more a wheel is sliding the less grip it will have, so the cyclist must know how to choose the tire that has the right ratio of smoothness and grip, always according to the terrain on the pedal he will ride more often.
3) Rolling resistance: the tire must overcome the force of friction on the ground thanks to the force imparted by the biker. Tires with a lot of grip have greater rolling resistance and, consequently, the biker must try harder to move the bike.
There are different types of bike tires:
MTB rigid tires: they are the ones most used by professionals. The underground structure is made of wire and is positioned in the heel.
Folding MTB tires: they are rigid, light and have a bundle of fibers, called Kevler, which allow the tire to bend.
Tubeless tires: they do not have an inner tube and the tire adheres tightly to the rim. They are light and provide excellent protection against punctures.
After choosing the type of tire that best suits the characteristics of the bike and the terrain on which you want to pedal, you should also consider other parameters such as the compound, the size and the type of blocks. The standard size recommended in MTB is never less than 2 inches and many bikers mount tires of different sizes in the rear and front wheels.
As far as the compound is concerned, it is essential to check that the MTB tires are neither too hard since they would not have grip nor too soft since they could puncture easily.
The protruding anchors guarantee greater grip and grip while the lower ones promote smoothness.
On the Pro-M Store you have a wide range of 29 mtb tires, 27.5 mtb tires from the best brands such as Schwalbe, Specialized, Vittoria and Wtb. Choose the product that best suits the characteristics of your bike and proceed with the purchase.
