Pirelli Scorpion Race: the new tires for gravity racing, Enduro, and Downhill.
Three years after the launch of the Scorpion tire family dedicated to the MTB world, Pirelli completes the range with two gravity products designed for the most demanding Enduro (EN) and Downhill (DH) races.

Scorpion™ Race S models are for soft terrains. The tread pattern is specifically designed for loose terrains, with large and taller knobs to offer superior mechanical grip, supporting aggressive riding in a wide range of conditions, up to light mud. The supersoft SmartEVO DH compound is combined with large knobs to provide superb grip on slippery surfaces, without compromising the overall stability of the tire thanks to a stiffer base compound. DualWall+ is the specific downhill casing and consists of a double-layer 60tpi casing, reinforced with a lateral cut-resistant reinforcement and a rubber insert for the bead. This structure is designed to provide superior protection against cuts and punctures and is designed to absorb small vibrations and big impacts. The DualWall enduro-specific casing, on the other hand, consists of a double-layer 120 tpi casing, reinforced with a rubber insert for the bead. This structure provides protection and support while having limited weight and the superior softness and speed of an Enduro Race tire.

SmartEVO DH Compound
Superior grip, better handling, and controlled damping: Pure competition compound formulation with Cap&Base structure for optimized handling.

The key element of SmartEVO DH is the combination of two layers of rubber compounds: on the outside, there is a high-performance supersoft compound (42 Shore A*), while underneath the tread, there is a damping compound that provides support and shock absorption. The two compounds work together seamlessly, giving the rider a feeling of maneuverability, responsiveness, and precision under extreme lateral loads, typical of downhill racing. The outer rubber layer has been developed with the understanding that rolling resistance is still a key factor when racing against the clock.

Dual Wall+
Completely predictable lateral support, better shock absorption, and high reliability: Stiff 2-layer 60tpi TLR casing with pinch-flat resistant rubber insert and additional textile lateral reinforcement.
