Pirelli Scorpion Race: the new tires for Gravity racing, Enduro, and Downhill

Three years after the launch of the Scorpion tire family dedicated to the MTB world, Pirelli completes the range with two gravity products designed for the most demanding Enduro (EN) and Downhill (DH) races.

Scorpion™ Race M are the most versatile models: the central section is designed for precise and predictable traction in braking and acceleration. The side lugs are designed for maximum support and an easier perception of the limit. The SmartEVO DH supersoft compound is combined with large lugs to optimize grip on all types of terrain without compromising the overall stability of the tire thanks to a stiffer base compound. The DualWall+ is the specific downhill carcass and is composed of a 60tpi dual-layer casing, reinforced with a side anti-cut reinforcement and a rubber insert for the bead. This structure is designed to provide superior protection against cuts and punctures and is designed to absorb small vibrations and large impacts. The DualWall enduro-specific casing is instead composed of a 120 tpi dual-layer casing, reinforced with a rubber insert for the bead. This structure provides protection and support, while having a limited weight and the superior softness and speed of an Enduro Race tire.

Superior grip, better handling, and controlled damping: Pure competition compound formulation with Cap&Base structure for optimized handling.

The key element of SmartEVO DH is the combination of two layers of rubber compounds: on the outside, there is a high-performance super soft compound, while on the inside, under the tread, there is a damping compound that provides support and shock absorption. The two compounds work together seamlessly, giving the rider a feeling of handling, responsiveness, and precision under extreme lateral loads, typical of downhill races. The outer layer of rubber has been developed with the understanding that rolling resistance is still a key factor when racing against the clock.

Dual Wall
More flexible and lightweight, for greater pedaling efficiency and a better riding feel: 2-ply 120tpi, foldable, and tubeless-ready casing, with anti-folding rubber protection.
