Roval Rapide - the fastest handlebar ever made
The new Roval Rapide Cockpit is much more than just the fastest way to cross the finish line. It is the fastest attack tool we have ever created, with significant aerodynamic advantages, shaving an additional four watts off the already incredibly fast combination of the Rapide handlebar with the Tarmac stem. But to offer a winning advantage, more than pure aerodynamics is needed. The goal for the Roval engineering team was simple: the Rapide Cockpit had to be the fastest handlebar ever made, without compromise. It is aerodynamic, lightweight, stiff, and designed in collaboration with the world's best athletes and Retül Fit experts, so you can seize victory.

Aerodynamics
Removing the connecting components between the stem and handlebar allowed the handlebar profile to be designed in an airfoil shape. This airfoil has been optimized to provide the maximum advantage in clean air at speeds encountered in long solo breakaways and full-on sprints in the World Tour. While a four-watt improvement may seem small, it results in a 32 cm advantage in a 250m final sprint. When races are won by a bike throw, this is a winning difference.

Lightweight and Stiff
By removing the connecting components between the stem and handlebar, the Rapide Cockpit is 50 grams lighter (100 mm x 420 mm) than the combination of the Rapide handlebar with the Tarmac stem. Made from high-modulus premium carbon fiber, which offers the ideal stiffness for the biggest and fastest sprinters of the World Tour, the Rapide Cockpit has a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio than any two-piece system Roval has ever made.

Positioning
The disadvantage of one-piece cockpits has long been the positioning, but Roval worked with Retül Fit professionals and top athletes to ensure that almost all riders can find their proper saddle position. Offering 15 different combinations of stem and handlebar, all at -6 degrees, covers most racing positions. The range from top to drop has been sculpted for wrist freedom both when out of the saddle and tucked into an aerodynamic position, while the curvature and flare reflect the preferred Rapide handlebar.
