    Aerodynamics or lightness alone don’t win races: what counts is speed. To achieve this speed, you need an uncompromising combination of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness, and compliance. Through complex simulations using real-world data, our Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest race bike on any course: 16.6 seconds faster over 40 km on flat terrain, 128 seconds faster on the Milan-Sanremo course, and 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet climb.

    SPECIALIZED TARMAC SL8 PRO SHIMANO ULTEGRA DI2 BIKE MAIN FEATURES:

    • AERODYNAMICS: We use aerodynamics where it’s needed most, and in the process, we've created our fastest road bike ever—yes, even more aerodynamic than the Venge. The front end has been optimized for maximum advantage. The fork steerer is positioned rearward relative to the front of the frame's head tube, offering significantly lower aerodynamic drag. Thanks to new UCI rules, for the SL8 we were able to use the narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost we've ever made, ensuring that the turbulent air around the legs can flow more easily to the rear of the bike.
    • LIGHTWEIGHT: To create the Tarmac SL8 and make the most aerodynamic bike while meeting the UCI’s minimum weight requirements, we were inspired by what we learned with the Aethos. The team created a frame weighing just 685 grams, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour bike*. By focusing on the lightest possible weight in the downtube, seat tube, and rear triangle, we applied the lessons learned from the Aethos project. The frame shapes respond so efficiently to stress that we could reduce material thickness, eliminating the unnecessary. *Except for that one time when Kasper Asgreen raced on our 585-gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage.
    • RIDE QUALITY: The Tarmac SL8's stiffness-to-weight ratio is 33% better than the SL7's. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new benchmark for handling: it's precise in the most demanding situations and responds immediately and efficiently to pedal inputs. While the areas that ensure power transfer and handling precision are stiffer than ever, the Tarmac SL8 offers more comfort, filtering out 6% more road vibrations, allowing you to tackle corners with an agility and balance that is unique in the world of race bikes. The new Tarmac SL8 retains the proven geometry of the SL7 model, with the same generous 32mm tire clearance, so you can use higher-volume tires when needed.
