After eight generations and over two decades of development, it’s not just the fastest Tarmac ever: it’s the fastest racing bike in the world. Are your legs ready?

    Aerodynamics or lightness alone don’t win races: what matters is speed. Achieving this speed requires an uncompromising combination of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness, and shock absorption. Through complex simulations using real data, our Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest racing bike on any course: 16.6 seconds faster over 40 km of flat terrain, 128 seconds faster on the Milan-Sanremo route, and 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet climb.

    Now the fastest bike on any road is available with the new SRAM RED AXS groupset with power meter – the lightest electronic groupset – paired with Roval Rapide CLX II tubeless-ready wheels and Roval Rapide Cockpit handlebars.

    SPECIALIZED TARMAC SL8 SRAM RED AXS MAIN FEATURES:

    • AERODYNAMICS: We use aerodynamics where it matters most, and in the process, we’ve created our fastest road bike ever – yes, even more aerodynamic than the Venge. The front end has been optimized to provide the maximum advantage. The fork steerer is positioned behind the front of the head tube to offer much lower aerodynamic resistance. Thanks to new UCI rules, we were able to use the narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost we’ve ever made for the SL8, ensuring turbulent air in the leg area flows more easily to the rear of the bike.
    • LIGHTWEIGHT: To create the Tarmac SL8 and make the most aerodynamic bike while meeting UCI's minimum weight requirements, we drew inspiration from what we learned with the Aethos. The team built a frame weighing 685 grams, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour bike*. Focusing on the maximum possible lightness in the downtube, seat tube, and rear triangle, we applied the lessons learned from the Aethos project. The frame shapes respond so efficiently to stresses that it was possible to reduce the material thickness, eliminating the superfluous. *Except for that one time when Kasper Asgreen raced with our 585-gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage.
    • RIDE QUALITY: The stiffness-to-weight ratio of the Tarmac SL8 is 33% better than the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new benchmark for handling: it is precise in the most demanding situations and responds immediately and efficiently to pedal input. While the areas ensuring power transfer and precise handling are stiffer than ever, the Tarmac SL8 is more comfortable in the saddle, filtering 6% more road vibrations and allowing you to tackle corners with a unique sense of agility and balance in the world of racing bikes. The new Tarmac SL8 retains the proven geometry of the SL7 model, with the same generous 32 mm tire clearance, allowing you to use higher volume tires when needed.
