All this work was not born from a designer's ego, and it wasn’t just to stand out in the market. The shift in the position of the lower link and the shock, now lower and more forward, was crucial to lower the anti-squat for a wild bike like the Bronson. Anti-squat occurs when the force from your pedaling ends up stiffening the suspension. Every time you hit an obstacle or bump, the chain, and therefore the pedals, get yanked backward. If anti-squat is insufficient, the bike will stall under pedal force. If it’s too much, the bike will feel "stiff" and won’t absorb the roughness encountered while under strain. By shifting any of the VPP™ pivots a couple of millimeters in any direction, you achieve extraordinary adjustments to ride quality. The VPP™ lower link is now positioned lower and slightly more forward to optimize anti-squat. The result is a sensation of smoothness, an unmatched feeling, and great traction.
