To create this race machine, we took a fully integrated development approach, inventing a brand-new shock, built on four decades of victories in off-road racing.

REFERENCE FRAME: To achieve maximum speed through perfect power transfer efficiency and ultra-precise handling, our engineering team set a new standard for torsional and bottom bracket stiffness. The double-diamond frame layout is the most sophisticated in Specialized’s history, supporting the stiffness goal by integrating the shock as a structural element.

FAST SUSPENSION: The Specialized Ride Dynamics Team developed revolutionary technology for the Epic World Cup, giving it the efficiency and responsiveness of a hardtail, along with the control and capability of a full-suspension bike. The RockShox SID Deluxe WCID (World Cup Integrated Design) shock with independently adjustable positive and negative air springs gives the Epic WC the coveted "snap" of hardtails while maintaining a lightweight design. The setup can be adjusted to suit specific courses or personal preferences.

BEYOND ITS CATEGORY: The 75mm of travel on the Epic World Cup feels like much more. When ridden in firm mode, it offers the same positive travel as a bike with 100mm of travel set with 25% sag. Optimized air volume and damping characteristics allow the Epic WC to handle bumps like a bike with more generous suspension. The dedicated MegaJounce bumper provides strong support for big hits.

BRAIN: While the revolutionary SID Deluxe WCID shock delivers the perfect mix of absorption and firmness at the rear, the BRAIN remains alive and well in the fork, featuring Position-Sensitive technology and 15mm of sag, eliminating the need for lockout levers or manual adjustments.

LIGHTWEIGHT: With a frame weighing just 1765 grams (painted, including shock and hardware), the Epic World Cup is the lightest in the market. This lightness translates into explosive acceleration, maximum efficiency on climbs, and outstanding handling. We were able to design such a lightweight yet stiff frame thanks to the lessons we learned from the Aethos, especially regarding carbon fiber layup design.
