The R5 has always had a single purpose: to reach the summit as quickly as possible. However, a finish line at the end of a long climb is rarely the only ascent of the day. A race is usually not decided on a descent, but it can certainly be lost there. A climber's bike that cannot handle a downhill hairpin has the charm of a cup of decaf coffee. This is the fourth generation of the Cervélo R5, and while weight and stiffness have improved over the years, its handling and unparalleled agility have remained consistent since day one.

FASTER IN EVERY DIRECTION

The new R5 frame is 130g lighter than the previous model, a 16% reduction. Additionally, while aerodynamics was not the main focus for this frame as it might be for an S5 or a P5, the integrated cable routing has reduced aerodynamic drag by 25g.

DARKER THAN NIGHT, LIGHTER THAN AIR

The black color may absorb all light, but the Cervélo Five Black is anything but heavy. This ultra-minimalist graphic and paint package translates into a significantly lighter frame: they won't even see you coming.

The R5 is stiff, but not too stiff. A perfect mix of handling, stability, and power transfer that feels "just right," keeping you fresh and ready for the road ahead.

Turbulent Aero

This year’s R5 models feature the new Reserve 34|37 TA wheelset as standard. TA stands for Turbulent Aero, a new way of thinking about aerodynamics. Reserve and Cervélo developed a protocol to replicate real-world wind conditions during wind tunnel testing to create aerodynamic profiles that are more effective in everyday use. This means the wheels are not only lightweight, responsive, and fast but also exceptionally stable and safe in all wind conditions.

INTEGRATED SRAM POWER

The Red and Force versions include Quarq Zero powermeters integrated into the crankset. An integrated powermeter results in better stiffness, lighter weight, and greater accuracy compared to aftermarket solutions, and the DZero delivers power measurements precise to +/- 1.5%, even in variable temperatures.
